Roy Hinson SALISBURY Mr. Roy Virgil Hinson, 86, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at the VA Hospital Nursing Home Facility.
Mr. Hinson was born Dec. 25, 1925 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Isaac Virgil and Maud Eury Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Sloop Hinson, and siblings, Harold Hinson, Shirley Hinson, Fred Hinson and Donald Hinson.
Roy was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 100th Division, H Company the 398th Infantry of the U.S. Army. He retired as manager from the Cabarrus County Transportation Garage and was a member of Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Kathleen Austin of Concord; and brother-in-law Joseph Sloop and his wife, Thetis of China Grove.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Connelly officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
